A good business coach can help improve
executive or corporate performance results
in the same way that a good sports coach
helps an athlete. Coaching helps push,
stretch, reach, find the right goals, make
good plans, and execute them.

WHAT IS A TELECLASS?

A Teleclass is a conference call. You and 1-30 other students call a regular phone number in the U.S. at your class time and the Teleclass Leader welcomes you. You may call early and visit with other participants if you like. The Teleclass begins promptly at the listed start time.

You can listen and absorb and/or engage in the discussion. You can always ask questions of the Teleclass Leader at appropriate times during the class.

Imagine: Class with no dress code or parking problems. With some teleclasses you do not need a computer in order to be in the class, but some may require a computer to see multimedia or illustrative content. Most of m y teleclasses classes involve a teaching time, following along on a web site at the same time, followed by an interactive questioning time. My answer to one participant will often address the needs of several classmates. If somebody gets stuck, and others do not need that answer, we can handle special issues after the group class. Some classes are more one way, while some are more interactive. Each series of classes tends to have some of each type of class.

You may need a computer with Internet access in order to view the Examples, See Class Notes, or replay the class audio at a later time. If in doubt, ask in advance.

Teleclass Protocol

1. Find a Quiet Place. A small room with a door that shuts is great. I post a note on my door that I am on a conference call with the time I'll be done. If you use a cell phone (they work great) just find a nice parking lot - we don't want to be party to your accident.

2. Hidden Costs. Yes, this is a long distance call, so we all will pay for our own long distance time. The bridge line I use will be in Las Vegas - so be prepared for the extra cost (AT & T, Sprint PCS, MCI all have bargains - check them out - Sam's Club has a card with $.06/minute). For the "Starting Your Business Right Class" of 4 hours, my extra phone bill is under $15.

3.Use your telephone's mute button, if there is one. Background noise, the dog barking, radio, etc., could be a problem if 30 callers all aren't using their mute buttons. If your phone doesn't have a mute button, just find a very quiet place. If you are a heavy breather, hold the phone away from your mouth while talking.

4. Other phones. If you have more than one phone line, turn the ringer off your other phones. It will be a very shrill noise to those of us listening.

5. Speaker phones and Cordless phones are difficult to use, they cause feedback and squealing.

6. Spousal/Partner sharing. For my "Starting Your Business Right" classes, your spouse or partner is welcome to attend for the one cost. You can use the same line with an extension phone.

7. Sharing is encouraged. To indicate you have a question, press your * button one time. The Instructor will recognize you at the next appropriate time. However, please wait to be prompted -- don't just speak up, unless invited. If when you do share, say something like, "Linda (or the instructor's name), this is Bob from Tampa." The Instructor will say, "Yes, Bob, go ahead." Then you can say whatever you'd like to.

8. Coming and Going is allowed. If you are late, please come anyway, just dial in and listen until you are up to speed. If you must leave early, it is fine, just hang-up. If the baby needs changing, feel free to leave and call back. Please don't call the bridge before or after the scheduled time as another class my be in session.

9. If you do not agree with the Instructor or others in attendance, please be positive with your comments and be respectful. Civility is a hallmark of all Professional Coaching Relationships. If you must truly complain, call me later. After the class is over. I'll be glad to consider your comments.

10. If the line gets static, you get disconnected or you just need to take a break, simply hang up and call back. It is as simple as that. Think of the line as a classroom.

11. Audio taping is not allowed by anyone other than the instructor and the instructor will inform you prior to the class if it will be taped. Most are taped so you can get a copy to refresh you mind.
